Sure, he had Fotia nearby, and yeah, there were others in Pua, however they were still a ways away, even for him, besides, she (Yuray) was there, and that was reason enough to shrug it off and shift his gaze from the distance nobody else could see, to the lake he managed to wonder to, sitting and letting lake listen not to words, but to feelings as he sat down beside it and let his mind wonder, spilling all his secrets for the lake to judge, but no one else* (edited)

*takes the lantern, and blows on the flame just enough to get it to burn more, and then lifts it into the air*

The lantern lifts into the air, and towards the sky, becoming one with the stars

They stay there for awhile as the sun finished setting. Eventually finally giving the boat guy the chance to row them back. Where they went to have Dinner with Char and Mal before they all go their separate ways and turn in for the night
